We're having a new furnace and air conditioning installed this week. Because we decided to do this during one of the hottest weeks so far this summer, the contractors like to get started around 7 a.m., so they can get a fair bit of work done before it gets too hot to work up in the attic. So each morning this week, Daniel and I have been getting up early (modestly early for me, obscenely early for Daniel), and I make a Starbucks run, and we sit and drink coffee and read the New York Times together. It's all very pleasant and domestic, but I am so looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow morning.
Of course, just as I'm having AC installed, Stan Cox has to come out with a book about why air conditioning is evil that I keep encountering in blog posts and NPR radio spots this week. Apparently, my virtue ends where my sweat glands begin.
