Good things...

Daniel and I had a lovely dinner with [livejournal.com profile] zellandyne and [livejournal.com profile] frankwu last night. We got all caught up on World Fantasy con gossip, and life, and stuff.

My Doctor Who season 3 box set arrived from Amazon on Tuesday. I rewatched "Smith and Jones" - it's still a lovely romp, and such fun to meet Martha for the first time again. (With DVDs, anyone can travel in time!)

Some of my coworkers were teasing me, as I was making my first cup of tea this morning, because I've got a big deadline a week away and I'm all cheerful and relaxed and not freaking out. And I'm not. Last week was tense, but right now we're on track. I'm working my butt off, but only in the sense of spending an 8 hour day being very focused on what remains to get done. Then I leave it at the office and go home, feeling confident that everything is going to happen when it needs to happen.

My parents are coming to visit this weekend, and I'm really looking forward to seeing them.

Honestly, the biggest current source of stress in my life is that my manager's telling me that she fully intends to promote me to management at some unspecified future date has triggered occasional bouts of intense introspection about What I Want In My Career. Which I can't really complain about, because, really, if you're worrying about your career, you've already made it farther up Maslow's hierarchy of needs than most of this planet ever gets.

Anyway, the pessimist in me keeps looking around for the piano that must surely be about to fall on my head. So just in case that piano falls, I'd like to record this fact: At the moment, life is looking really good.
