This is weird: Eoin Colfer is going to write a sixth Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy book.

Apparently, Adams himself had been contemplating a sixth book before he died. Which strikes me as odd, since Mostly Harmless always felt to me like Adams wrote it for the express purpose of finishing off the series and getting people to stop pestering him about when the next Hitchhiker's book was coming out.

Perhaps he realized that people were never going to stop pestering him. Even in death.

Can't say I envy Colfer the task of following on from Adams. Almost no matter what he does, people are either going to say, "It doesn't read like Douglas Adams," or "It reads like an Adams pastiche." I'm personally torn on whether to buy the book - I don't really think the world needs another Hitchhiker's book (honestly, the world didn't need Mostly Harmless, a book well described by its title), but I'm curious to see how another author would follow on after all this time. Since the book's not written yet, I'll have plenty of time to decide.

Upgrading to Firefox 3 appears to have broken the bit of JavaScript I wrote for testing Help links. WTF, Mozilla?
