So, I will confess that I ignored a great many tweets and emails yesterday asking me to call my senators to urge them to vote no on the Nelson-Hatch amendment that would have banned any government-subsidized health plan from covering abortions. Because my senators are Barbara Boxer and Dianne Feinstein, and I never doubted that they'd vote no.

However, now that the amendment has been scuttled, I did send them an email thanking them for doing so. If you're a US voter, you can see how your senators voted (and send them an email telling them how you feel about it) here: http://www.plannedparenthoodaction.org/healthreform

I called Feinstein's office today to urge a "no" and was very gratified to be reassured that she wasn't voting for it. :)
