Doctor Who fans who are ignorant of the slashfic world are probably utterly unaware of what they do to my brain when they casually toss around phrases like "Troughton/Dalek".
Are people using slash when they mean bang (as in referring to the Daleks of the Troughton era as Troughton!Daleks)?
That would be a plausible usage, but where I've seen it most recently it was used more like a shorthand for "Troughton vs. the Daleks" or "a Troughton Dalek story". As in "I fancy a bit of Troughton/Dalek, so I've ordered the CD of 'Power of the Daleks'."
