So, I managed to get out of Fry's yesterday with just DVD shelves and 3 mechanical pencils. I was tremendously tempted by assorted Doctor Who and Coupling DVDs, but I managed to persuade myself that I shouldn't buy any new DVDs until I had the ones I already owned neatly and snugly stored away.

For a large chunk of this afternoon, we had no network connectivity here at work. Now I've got internet and email, but I cannot access the network storage where the files I'm working on are stored. I'm rapidly running out of useful things that I can do. I think I'm going to go home. It's eerily quiet around here - most folks have already bailed out.

Still, we're not as bad off as the folks in one of our other buildings. They had no running water today.

It's a bad day for infrastructure.

Tonight we watched the first episode of the Christopher Eccleston Doctor Who stuff, "Rose." It was my first Doctor Who ever. I did not immediately love or hate it. The guys seemed to think it was very much a Doctor Who episode. I'm sure we'll watch more later, since we have the DVDs.

Yeah, "Rose" is a good solid Doctor Who episode, neither brilliant nor terrible. (I found it very exciting, but more in a "Look, they've brought Doctor Who back and they're not screwing it up!" sort of way than based on its own intrinsic merits.)

I always find it interesting to see what non-fans think of the episodes. (I also find it interesting to see what Doctor Who fans think of the episodes, but we tend to share common sets of perceptual filters.)

We had no network connectivity on the periphery of the building yesterday morning. It was weird: the lab and helpdesk areas were fine, but the offices weren't. Ah dun geddit.

I like your icon, though.

IT = Intermittent Technology

The icon comes from this truly amazing collection of Doctor Who icons: http://community.livejournal.com/dwicons/771339.html#cutid1

I'm considering upgrading my account just so I can have more.
