Well, here's an interesting rumor: a US version of Torchwood? With RTD writing? Possibly including some of the original cast.

Reading the Hollywood Reporter article linked to by the above link, it looks like Fox is in the maybe-thinking-about-commissioning-a-pilot phase. So, it's probably too early to be getting outraged or excited (depending on your inclinations) about this.

As a television viewer, it's hard for me to get excited about the prospect of yet another remake of a successful British TV series. On the other hand, the part of me that is interested in how television gets made, and how British television differs from American television, is fascinated. Torchwood was, in some ways, RTD's attempt to re-imagine an American science fiction drama for British television. How would that change when translated back to American television? Would Fox be brave enough to keep all the same-sex relationships, for a start?

Looks like The Guardian has picked up the story, too: http://www.guardian.co.uk/tv-and-radio/tvandradioblog/2010/jan/19/will-us-torchwood-work

Yes, I've read that rumor, too. What's unclear is whether the show would keep Captain Jack as its main character... and what the setting would be. I like my Torchwood characters in Cardiff, personally, because it looks like a cool city and the accents RAWK. I also think Fox would want to tone down the gayness of the characters, which would be too, too bad. :(

I think that all of that is probably unclear to everyone involved - as far as I can tell, the project really hasn't gotten beyond the "RTD had drinks with some folks at Fox, and they discussed some possible projects, including an American version of Torchwood." But I assume that if the project goes ahead, it won't be set in Cardiff. Pity.

I love your icon, by the way!

I think the other ones were along the lines of Jack=Gryffindor, Ianto=Hufflepuff, Gwen=Gryffindor, Owen=Ravenclaw. (If I'm remembering correctly.)

Yeah, it does sound like RTD had some drinks at Fox. I just hope that if the project goes through, they give him the creative license he deserves and don't screw the program over by the putting it on The Friday Night Death Slot.
