Shadow of the Past by Simon GuerrierMy rating: 3 of 5 stars
I very much enjoyed the way this story really got inside Liz Shaw's head and let us experience her feelings about what was going on. (I think that if Liz Shaw had a flaw as a companion, it wasn't, as conventional wisdom has it, that she was too "smart". It was that her emotions rarely ventured beyond scientific interest, wry amusement, and exasperation. Great legs and wry amusement will take you far as a Doctor Who companion, but there are limits.)
I think I foresaw most of the major plot twists, but the story was well-paced and engaging nonetheless. Definitely recommended if you're a season 7 fan, and well worth a listen even if that's not particularly your favorite era.
