Goth rock nostalgia (slight return)

This goth-metal cover of REM's "Losing My Religion" by the French band Karelia made me happy enough that I'm posting it even though it doesn't have a proper video to go with it.

This is like hearing of a band called Kansas and discovering they were from Paraguay.

Yeah, I was perplexed. Best I can figure is that they named themselves in tribute to the many fine Finnish death metal bands out there, but it's still weird. (Especially since my primary mental association with Karelia is its being the site of one of the more historically successful efforts to reduce incidence of heart attack and stroke through a large-scale government public health program. But that's probably just me.)
