My Bloody Valentine have released a new album, their first in ages. I'm cautiously pleased - I've only heard a few tracks, and My Bloody Valentine make the kind of music that takes a while to really sink in. The album seems to sound like them, though.
Haven't heard anything from it yet that I like as much as my favorite song of theirs, "Only Shallow". I love the strange lurching slide-y riff in this, and the way the lyrics hover on just the wrong side of intelligibility, like someone speaking to you in a dream. Grab a second-hand Fender Jaguar and shoegaze like it's 1991:
