Getting dressed this morning, I discovered that my thighs have well and truly outgrown my tightest pair of "skinny cut" jeans.

Probably time to get my body composition measured again. I sure seem to be gaining muscle mass. I'm not sure if I'm actually losing any body fat. Which, in the grand scheme of things is less important than the fact that I'm getting stronger and look and feel great and am healthy.

This is giving me some perspective on the whole "women who won't lift weights because they're afraid to get bulky" thing. I mean, my legs don't look "bulky". If anything they look leaner and more toned. But that pair of jeans is still too tight, and most women don't hit the gym hoping to make their clothes get tighter.

Me? I'm just ready for this whole skinny jeans thing to be over.

I want nothing to do with skinny jeans. Bleh.

I'm glad you are feeling great!

I think I have to partially credit the trend towards form-fitting pants for helping me get over the idea that my thighs were an abomination and that I couldn't wear tight-fitting clothing without scaring the horses. But I hate going into clothing stores and seeing the word "skinny" all over everything; I hate how hard it is to actually find pants that fit my thighs; and I hate the way it encourages putting useless vestigial pockets in women's pants, because it's not like you can put much in the pockets when the pants are that tight, anyway.

Seriously. On the one hand, I kind of like the way form-fitting pants look, and on the other hand, I wish that baggier pants were still reasonably fashionable because I MISS POCKETS.

Also, yes, stop putting skinny all over everything. Sheesh.

Boy howdy.

My thighs are by no objective standard "bulky." Nobody looks at me and says, "The thing about that woman is that she has bulky thighs." But I cannot wear shorts any more because the fashion in shorts for the last decade has been too straight-cut, and finding jeans/pants is a hardship. Fie upon skinny jeans.

Oh, gosh, shorts. I have an 8-year old pair of denim shorts, made during the last gasp of non-form-fitting shorts. They're starting to get a teeny bit ragged, and I am sad, because there's no way in hell I will be able to replace them with anything comparable.

You and me both. :p It's one of the most useless fashions since the 80s era of neon leggings, which are (horrifically) apparently coming back into style. UGH.

Yay for muscle mass! You are climbing a lot stronger!

I have a 12" differential between my waist and hips, with the thighs that go with that. I favor broomstick skirts and such because pants I can sit and cross my legs are few and far between.

The skinny thing bugs me. Even if I were skinny, my thighs still wouldn't fit.
