Hey, why didn't anyone tell me that the BBC made a series about female former codebreakers from Bletchley Park who solve crimes in postwar London? Because apparently the BBC made a TV series just for me and I totally failed to notice. Have any of you out there seen it? Is it any good?

I see that season 1 is available on Netflix streaming, so I will watch and report back when I can. Which given the amount of time I have to devote to TV lately, might not be terribly soon. This is probably why making TV series just for me is not a good business move and apparently must be left to overseas public service broadcasters.

Hello,

It was made by the commercial broadcaster, ITV, not the BBC, and maybe for that reason it was cancelled just this spring. There are two series of it though, and it's pretty fabulous.

There's more here (http://www.denofgeek.com/tv/the-bletchley-circle/30149/the-bletchley-circle-cancelled)

Oops. Thanks for the correction - I always get a bit annoyed when non-Brits casually confuse ITV and the BBC, and here I am doing it myself.

Shame about the cancellation.
