That moment when you realize that you've gotten so good at speaking engineer that the sys admin and the web application developer only talk to each other through you.

It's less dramatic than I've probably made it sound. The sys admin administers the virtual machine on which one of our internal applications runs. The web application developer is building another internal tool that integrates with the tool managed by the sys admin. I helped define the requirements for the second internal tool.

Having reflected on this, I think the web application developer routes his requests to the sys admin through me because I have more seniority and he perceives (possibly correctly) that the request will have more weight coming from me. I'm not entirely sure why the sys admin directs technical questions about the developer's work to me. I should probably encourage them to cut me out of the loop on conversations I don't actually need to be a part of.
