Episode 14: "Boring" is Just Another Word for "I Love You"

The Zhanalytics don't really do a good job of capturing the intensity of feeling here. I only counted six Brooding Stares, but some of them could melt glass. 

 

Oh, it's not the Danger Turtle. It's the Tortoise of Slaughter. 

 

Creating a makeshift musical instrument out of bow strings so that Lan Zhan can use the chord assassination technique. I love it. 

 

"I will force the turtle out of its shell." That's not how turtles work, dude. But it is how this turtle works. Ew, the inside of this turtle shell is gross. 

 

Hmmm, a lot of the monsters they run into seem to be connected to the Yin Iron. 

 

Yeah, okay, I don't care what they call it, this is definitely more like a snake or an eel that lives in a cave than a tortoise. 

 

And Wei Wuxian stabs the turtle and is dragged form the "shell" in an extremely unconvincing looking bit of action. The actor's doing his best to sell it, though. 

 

And this, children, is why you shouldn't pick up strange magic swords that you find lying around in the shell of tortoises. Or maybe you should - it seems to have been effective. 

 

I'm going to spend the next five minutes repeatedly saying, "Okay, now kiss!" and they're not going to oblige me at all. 

 

"It's so boring." Oh, I think Wei Wuxian has picked up on the code where "boring" means, "I'm not allowed to admit I like this."

 

And this is how Wei Wuxian got to know all the top hits from Gusu.

You really shouldn't clutch the bare blade of a sword like that. But hey, how'd they get out? Apparently Jin Zixuan helped carry Wei Wuxian out. He seems so embarrassed at having to admit that he helped out. 

 

"Where's Lan Zhan?" He's experienced more emotions in the last few days than in his entire life to date - he had to go lie down somewhere. 

 

Wei Wuxian complaining about how "boring" it was to be in the cave with Lan Zhan. I know his family don't know the code, but I kind of feel like they've noticed the severe case of mentionitis that Wei Wuxian has around Lan Zhan. 

 

Oh, Lady Jiang is here to set everyone straight. "One day he'll definitely get our clan into some big trouble!" Well, yes. 

 

Nice brotherly heart to heart between Jiang Cheng and Wei Wuxian. The Twin Heroes of Yunmeng! (Which I am still expecting to be in flames any day now.)

There is a whole language of brooding stares (if it weren't super spoilery, I'd share the fanvid of "I'm a Bitch Boss" that is basically three straight-up minutes of LWJ's resting bitch face -- and every time WWX forces an emotion out of him.

Warning. Stop watching now and you can pretend like there will be a happy ending. I mean, if you ignore those two episodes at the beginning...
