Master Lan summons them and says he's sending Zewu Jun out to deal with resentful energy, but Lan Zhan is grounded and has to stay home and repair books. I'm not sure this is going to result in a net decrease of resentful energy in the world.

Meanwhile back in Lotus Pier, Jiang Cheng is saying that the core value of the Jiang clan is to do the impossible. Fortunately, he's been putting up with Wei Wuxian every day for years, so this should be no problem.
In town, Wei Wuxian and Zewu Jun have a drink. Zewu Jun explains that he gets rid of the alcohol with his golden core. That is the most Lan thing ever.
"Wangji is learning 'Absterge'. I wonder if you know his intention." Yeah, we know his intention.
Okay, so I finally went and looked up 'Absterge' and apparently it's an archaic term meaning, "to cleanse, especially by wiping; purge". I can understand why Wei Wuxian is less than thrilled.
You know, Wei Wuxian, if I were determined to master the power of the Stygian Tiger Amulet without succumbing to the power of the dark side (so to speak), the first thing I would do would be to get a handle on my anger management problem. Because if you unleash the power of hell on your brother and clan leader, I don't think even Yanli is going to forgive you.
Speaking of Yanli, we have some sweet brother-sister talk. "Why would a person like another person?"
Yanli definitely believes that all problems can be fixed with soup. Also, does she have an Instant Pot? Because I can't think of any other way of making lotus root and rib soup that wouldn't require a fair amount of slow simmering, but Yanli seems to be able to whip the stuff up on the spot. Maybe that's what she uses her golden core for.
