While scouring the 'net for post-debate reaction (short answer: nobody disgraced themselves, and so the winner was whoever you happen to support politically) and bailout news (it passed), I found a few links that I wanted to pass on:

Like me, most of you probably greeted Biden's use of the term "Bosniaks" with a "huh?", but apparently it's the correct ethnic term for Bosnian muslims. Who knew?
Finally, Steve Pearlstein says something I've been wanting to say every time I hear people talking about the recent financial crisis: Greed Is Fine, It's Stupidity That Hurts. (Okay, to say that greed is "fine" is an exaggeration. But I think one of the reasons why we have such regular financial scandals and crises is that every time something like this happens, we get all caught up in the idea that it's about the personal moral failings of a bunch of guys on Wall St. The real problem is not that the people who sell us our investments are not angels. The problem is that we don't have a good way to catch these people when they start straying into Really Dumb Idea territory in their pursuit of profit.)

Trufax. That's why I was hoping that the bailout had some strings (i.e. re-regulation of some sort) attached. It's not like we haven't been in similar sitches before, it's just that they've not had ramifications like this. Things are clearly needing to be taken in hand while possible.
