Jingle Jangle

Busy time at work + searching for new place to rent + imminent holiday travel = slightly frazzled Wendy.

Housing search is going okay. Daniel's scouring the listings, so all I have to do is turn up when we've arranged to see a promising place and say yea or nay on whether I'd live there. So far we've passed on a too-tiny place in a great location and declined to see another promising place because the owners were demanding to see things like our actual social security cards before they would consider renting to us. (Who has their social security card? I mean, I do, because my parents put it into a folder along with my birth certificate, and when I went out into the world to seek my fortune, they gave me that folder, and I've carried it with me ever since in a bag of holding filing cabinet. But I'd wager I'm one of the few. And have you seen a 1974-vintage social security card? It's not very impressive - I could probably fake one up given a color photocopier and 10 minutes. I hope they give kids these days something better.)

Anyway, we're going to see at least one possible place this afternoon. Fingers crossed.

For whatever reason, my preferred relief from this particular combination of stresses is watching early '70s Doctor Who episodes. I apologize in advance for any untoward squeeing about decades-old episodes that may suddenly appear in this space as a result.

Good luck!

And believe me, I've a 2003ish-vintage SSC, and they still look like they could be faked up with some ingenious printing and a few marker pens.

Nothing wrong with a bit of old-school squee, frankly; makes a change from all the nailbiting about The Next Doctor.

Good luck. I know how stressful that can be.

And don't apologize. Squeeing about decades old Who is fun

See here for example :)

Sometimes you just have to let it out...

Nope, they're no better now -I have both my 1976 one, and the one from when I got married and changed my name. Pretty much identical (though there's a bit of color fade on the older one).

Good luck!!

It's quite easy to get a replacement card; I don't think very many people have the first one they were ever issued, but that's no obstacle. But yeah, you wouldn't think anyone but an employer would need to see it.
