Documentation woes...

I think I've said it before, and I'll say it again now - if SNMP is the Simplified Network Management Protocol, I sure as shootin' don't ever want to have to deal with the Complicated one.

It's very difficult to document something correctly when nobody (myself included) seems to be able to reliably remember the distinction between the port something sends information on and the port something receives information on.

I feel the same way about LDAP, the Lightweight Directory Access Protocol. (Except that I actually know what its heavyweight counterpart is.)

Hey, SNMP only has 8 messages! That's no more than HTTP. How complicated can it be? ;)

Oh, lordy, LDAP. I've gone a few rounds with that one.

I need the equivalent of Protocols for Dummies.
