There've been rumors about this floating around on the Doctor Who Forums for the past week or so, but now Big Finish has officially announced it: The Short Trips line of short fiction anthologies will be coming to an end later this year.
It feels a bit hypocritical for me to be too dismayed about this, since I have to admit that I haven't purchased very many of the Short Trips anthologies myself. Not a reflection on their quality, just on my particular tastes and the fact that in the ongoing battle for my Doctor Who merchandise dollars, something has to lose. But they were the last remaining source of prose fiction focused on Classic Series doctors, so I'll be sorry to see them go.
With no new Benny book announced to accompany season 10, I wonder if Big Finish is getting out of book publishing altogether.
