Squat

I squatted with the big girl bar today! Admittedly, my trainer took a look at my form and said, "Yeah...let's go back to goblet squats and work our way up to this." Still, it has been established as a goal. I'm going to need to develop both strength and flexibility before I can get there, though.

Fortunately, in compensation for my lousy squat form, I've been blessed with excellent deadlift form. It would be discouraging to suck at everything.

I wonder if I can get that on a T-shirt. ;)

Were you doing front squats or back squats? Either way, it's tricky to transition to using the big-girl bar. You'll get there, but it takes some practice. I'm actually thinking of reworking my squat form to try to be more upright and use my core more; I should discuss it with my trainer.

We started with front squats - I think my back squat right now would be in the "Are you doing a squat or a good morning? I can't tell" realm.

I find front squats to be harder than back squats, because the bar is pulling you forward. I find that back squats center my weight better. But yeah, either way is tricky to get used to.
